Teacher Spotlight

Mrs. Carson

by Karissa Meyer

February 09, 2005

Mrs. Carson is our teacher spotlight for this week.  She is our Spanish teacher here at Wakefield.  Mrs. LaVonne Carson was born in Watertown, S.D.  Graduating from high school at Willow Lake High School in South Dakota, she later attended college at South Dakota State University.  Mrs. Carson's best memory from college was when she traveled through Spain.  Eons and eons is how long Mrs. Carson has been teaching and she says that the best part of her job is getting to work with students.

In her spare time, she loves to travel and spend time with family and friends.  The career of Mrs. Carson's dreams would be a travel agent or a tour guide because she loves to travel and see new places.  Her favorite dessert is ice cream or anything chocolate because it's too fattening to be good for you so everyone likes it!  If Mrs. Carson could describe herself in three words they would be; dedicated, conscientious and organized.  A dog is what she would be if she could be any animal because in the right family, a dog is spoiled, more like the kids of the family are.  As for aliens, well, Mrs. Carson refers to the line from "Men In Black" where all the former teachers are called aliens from another planet.  If this is true, then she definitely believes in aliens.
