Jolene Klein

by Karissa Meyer

March 24, 2005

Mrs. Klein is our librarian spotlight for this week.  As you all know she is our Library Media Specialist.  Mrs. Jolene Ann Klein was born on May 24, 1960 in LeMars, Iowa, but she grew up in Marcus, IA.  Her best memory from childhood would be the family trip she went on to the black hills and she saw Mt. Rushmore for the first time.  Later Mrs. Klein attended high school at Marcus High School, but before high school she attended Holy Name school until it closed.  Traveling to Wayne, she went to college at Wayne State and majored in Educational Media with concentration in English.  She had been a Library Media Specialist for eight years in Coleridge, but she left when she was expecting twins. Then she was director of the Wayne Public Library for nine and a half years, and she helped them plan and move into the new public library.  Now Mrs. Klein is in her fifth year here at Wakefield.  After all of these years of being a great library media specialist, Mrs. Klein says that the best part of her job is getting to help students find what they need, whether it's books or information.  Even better than helping students find the information they need is seeing students take what they have learned to help themselves.

In her spare time, Mrs. Klein enjoys reading, going and watching her kids' activities, flower gardening or any other project if she has time, and she walks and exercises whenever she can.  The three words that would describe her best are caring, organized and conscientious. Mrs. Klein's favorite foods are pie alamode and cream puffs because she loves sweets.  If she could be an inanimate object she would be a landscape painting because pictures speak a thousand words and she loves colors and the beauty in nature. The job of Mrs. Klein's dreams would be either a journalist, a children's book author because she likes writing and she admires the creative works that she has seen in children's books, or some kind of designer.  As for aliens, Mrs. Klein believes that maybe they exist, but she would rather think of angels in our midst.
