Teacher Spotlight

Julie Siebrandt

by Karissa Meyer

June 06, 2001

Who was born on July 1, 1956 in Wayne, Nebraska?  That's right Julie Siebrandt.  She is a teacher's aide here at Wakefield.  Julie attended high school at Wayne and graduated in 1974.  She also says that her best memory from her childhood was growing up on the farm and going to country schools.

In her spare time, Mrs. Siebrandt loves to travel with her husband and spend time with their daughter and son-in-law.  Organized, caring and compassionate are the three words that would describe her best.  She has been a teacher's aide for eleven years and says that the best part of her job is working with kids, she loves seeing the smile on their faces when they've accomplished something that they thought was beyond their reach, and it makes her feel like she has really made a difference in their lives.  Even though she loves her job, she says that if she could have another job it would be a volunteer in the pediatric ward in a hospital.  There are so many sick children and just need someone to give them a lot of TLC.  Or maybe Mrs. Seibrandt would be a forensic investigator.  Julie doesn't really have a favorite dessert, she likes anything sweet.  If she could be any animal, Mrs. Siebrandt says she would be a cat because she could sit in a window and watch the world around her.  As for aliens, well Julie thinks that sure they exist, why not?
