College Planning Problems?

Seniors have lots of options

by Chelsey Victor

September 13, 2007

With August comes a fresh school year for all the students in Wakefield; one that will bring fun and excitement for everyone, especially the seniors! Every graduating class finds when its starts the year, along with a slight strain of senioritis, is the thrill of the beginning of the end (at least of their high school career). At the same time though comes the birth of a whole new world, for most, college. When there are so many choices of majors to go into, the unavoidable questions of where are you going to college and how are you supposed to know what's the best place for you can be overwhelming. Well any way that you want to look at, you have to decide on a plan that's best for you. Lots of people throw themselves in a random school somewhere simply because that's where their friends are going! What's in it for them then? Another thing to consider is, what do you love doing? Is it something that can be carried over into a career? There are thousands and thousands of jobs out there, and counting! One web site to visit that can help narrow all those options down is www.unl.edu. There they have an interactive link called 'Power of Possibilities' (http://possibilities.unl.edu/) that starts with a broad category.   After you answer about four questions in all, it gives you a list of potential majors that might be interesting to you! If you're still finding yourself with not a clue of what you want to do as the days dwindle down, don't worry too much, that's what Gen. Ed’s are for!
