State of the Schools Report
Nebraska Releases 2006-07 District Report Card

November 07, 2007
Nebraska’s Department of Education has released the 2006-07 State of the Schools Report. The information demonstrates the overall mastery of state standards by students in Nebraska in the content areas of language arts, math, and writing. Students in Wakefield, as in the entire state, continue to show a strong overall performance. As we examine subgroups of students, such as those learning the English language or receiving Special Education services, their scores are lower than their peers (as would be expected). The State of the Schools Report includes additional information, such as student enrollment and demographic trends, teacher information, and financial information for each school district. In the coming months, I will write newsletter articles focusing on this data. This information is a snapshot of our data. As we have done (and will continue to do), we will identify the essential knowledge, content, and skills we expect our students to have; whether or not they are learning and meeting (or exceeding) these expectations; plan, adjust, implement instruction to address students who are proficient and those who are not.
Wakefield’s results remain strong. This is a credit to the great educators in our district, and the students, their parents and a supportive community.
The results are posted on the Department of Education’s website:
