School Calendar for 2008-09

The Wakefield Community School Board of Education.has approved the calendar for the 2008-09 school year. The calendar is similar to previous school years. The first day for students will be August 19, 2008. The annual "Meet and Greet" night will be Monday, August 18, 2008.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled on one date only during the fall and spring. It is extremely difficult to find two nights in the same week to hold parent conferences due to the number of activities that are on the school calendar. We know that it will not be possible for all parents to be available on the same night of conferences, but teachers are willing and able to schedule additional times to meet with parents as necessary. We encourage all parents to have contact with our staff so we can all work together to improve the educational process at Wakefield Community School.
We will again have scheduled dates for teacher in-service. These are two-hour late starts for the purpose of engaging in regular meetings and conversations amongst our staff throughout the year. These professional development sessions will help to address the needs of our students and to improve our skills as educators.
