August 04, 2010
A few small changes have taken place in grades 7-12, in terms of classes offered for 2010-2011. (Dismissal time remains at 3:41)
Grades 10-12
Upperclassmen will be offered three new electives this year. Business Math and Personal Finance will be offered this year, both taught by Mrs. Lori Harding. Mr. Volk is also teaching Automotive class, which will alternate every year with Construction class.
Grade 9
All freshman will take one semester of Computers (“Information Technology”) taught by Mrs. Rusk, and one semester of Industrial Technology (“Introduction to Technology”) taught by Mr. Volk.
Grades 7 and 8
Each year, all junior high students take “rotation” classes. During period 5 and period 7, the students switch classes at the end of each quarter.
This year, the period 5 rotation includes: Computers, Industrial Technology, Transitions, and Family Consumer Science.
During the 7th period rotation each student will get 2 quarters of a Reading class, 1 quarter of art, and 1 quarter of a studyhall. The “Reading” class will consist of study skills, increasing vocabulary, and learning how to read textbook material. This class serves as an extra language arts class and will be beneficial for all junior high students.
Junior high PE
For 8th period this year, junior high students will be in PE and/or sports practices all year. If a student decides to not go out for a particular sport, they will report to PE during that time.
