1st Grade Newsletter

by Shelly Schultz

March 16, 2010

Mrs. Schultz's reading class has put together a newsletter describing a few of the instructional things going on at school.  Enjoy!

Space
By Kassidy Brudigam and Dillon Borg
We are learning about space in Mrs. Schultz’s science class.  We are working in partners and working on one of the planets.  Dillon and Brandon Torres are working on Saturn.  Kassidy Brudigam and Jonathon Vega are working on Mars.  When we are done we present them to the class.

Clay Birds
By Jeremiah Chase and Megan Clark
Last week at Mr. Hassler’s art class Mr. Hassler thought that Mrs. Hoffart’s class had already painted their birds.  We hadn’t so we have to do them next week.  We were wearing purple and yellow vests to prevent the paint from getting on us.

Money
By Blake Brown and Rachel Brudigam
We are learning about money.  Our favorite part is dimes nickels and quarters.  We are learning about money every day.  Three-in-a-Row Tic Tac Toe the game is really fun.  Say the name of a coin and if we are X’s or O’s we put the letter on that coin.

Lunch
By Mitchell Fisher and Wesson Moos
Lunch is very yummy in my tummy.  Wesson’s favorite lunch is…spaghetti  because I eat it a lot.  I like it with sauce.  My brother likes it with no sauce and my mom likes it with sauce.  Mitchell’s favorite lunch is ribs with barbecue sauce.  My dad likes it too.  My brother does not like it.  The cooks make the best.

All About Art
By Aileen Sanchez and Lindsey Al-Khafaji
We like painting a lot.  We had fun painting our birds.  Then we like washing our hands.  The birds were pretty.  Mr. Hassler is very good at art.

Making Clay Birds
By Ty Volk and TJ Salmon
On February 28th, 2010 Ty and TJ made clay birds in art.  Ty made his bird purple. T.J. made his bird red.  TJ liked his bird and so did Ty.

Pump Up the Volume
By Maddie Mogus and Olivia Scott
Wakefield Elementary is practicing for the Spring Concert which is May 4th.  It has all 70s music which is rocking!  I am personally excited about it (said Olivia).  At the concert I will hope to see you there.

Doing Pull ups in PE
By Jack Heitz and Justin Erb
We are doing pull ups and push-ups in PE.  There is a big bar and you have to lift your chin above it.  It is hard work.  There are five people in the pull-up club in first grade.  It is fun!

Space
By Sam Heitz and Hayden Ekberg
This week we are learning about space.  If you get close to the sun you will disappear.  Pluto is so far from the sun that it wold take over a life time to get to it.  In Mrs. Schultz’s and Mrs. Hoffart’s classes are learning about the solar system.  In Mrs. Schultz’s class we have partners.  Each partner has a planet to research.  Venus and Mercury are the hottest planets.  In Mrs. Hoffart’s class we are learning about time and space.  Eriss, the dwarf planet, is bigger than Pluto.  We like learning about space.
