2012 Illustrator Contest winners

Caldecott winner and other youth book awards announced

   The Wakefield elementary students were recently invited to participate in the 2012 Illustrator Contest, sponsored by the Library Media Center.  Several great illustrations were entered and were judged by senior art students. We'd like to thank the Art students & Mr. Hassler and wish to congratulate the following winners:

PreSchool Best of Class:  Andy M. 

    Creativity Award:  Mason L. 

Kindergarten Best of Class:  Daviegh P.

    Creativity Award:  Katie B.

1st Grade - no entries

2nd Grade Best of Class:  Ella C.

4f1ed6d67e1cf From the ALA website: The Caldecott Medal "shall be awarded to the artist of the most distinguished American Picture Book for Children published in the United States during the preceding year. The award shall go to the artist, who must be a citizen or resident of the United States, whether or not he be the author of the text.
