Six Students Headed to State Speech

6 students in 4 different events

Six Wakefield students qualified for state at the NSAA C1-4 District Speech Contest held at Battle Creek on Tuesday, March 13. The state qualifiers are the OID team of Paige Ellis, Brenda Gallardo, Mercedes Greve,  Hannah Paxton, and Sydney Rose; Torie Allemann in serious prose;  Brenda Gallardo in persuasive speaking; Hannah and Sydney in duet.  District placings: OID, 3rd; Duet—Hannah & Sydney, 1st; Torie & Mercedes, 4th; Persuasive—Brenda, 2nd; Extemporaneous, Megan Bejot, 6th.The Wakefield Speech Team placed 4th as a team.  Battle Creek placed 1st, Stanton 2nd, and Wisner-Pilger placed 3rd.  Other teams competing were West Holt, Homer, Winnebago, Lutheran High Northeast, and Norfolk Catholic.  Class C1 state speech competition is Thursday, March 22 at the University of Nebraska, Kearney.Inserted Image
