Josephine Peitz attends Leadership Seminar

HOBY--Outstanding Ambassadors, Future Leaders

June 06, 2014

Hastings College was the site of the 2014 Nebraska HOBY Leadership Seminar, which was held from May 30 through June 1. Josephine Peitz represented Wakefield Community Schools at this outstanding event that takes place across the United States. More than 165 outstanding ambassadors from high schools across Nebraska participated in the weekend. Ambassadors heard from dynamic speakers, community leaders and panelists regarding topics such as personal leadership, group leadership, civic engagement, entrepreneurism, overcoming adversity and leading in your community.

Josephine was selected to represent Wakefield last fall after submitting her application along with other sophomores who showed interest. When asked about her experience at HOBY, Josephine replied that there were many really good speakers there. They also participated in community service projects. Her group helped pack meals for those in need. Josephine summed up her experience in these words, “I met a lot of new people and had a lot of fun!”

The Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) program was founded in 1958. Their mission is to provide lifelong leadership development opportunities that empower individuals to achieve their highest potential. HOBY curriculum focuses on personal leadership, group leadership, leading in society, and leadership for service.
