Thanks to All who visited the Book Fair!!

Sir Readalot's Castle Book Fair was a Success

October 14, 2014

We'd like to thank all who visited and helped in any way at this year's Scholastic Book Fair, Sir Readalot's Castle.  This year's sales topped over $2800.  Many students and their families stopped by the Library Media Center during Parent / Teacher Conferences or during sale hours after school that week, and we are happy to know that so many new books are in the hands of young readers.  The School Library was able to keep 35 hardback titles from the book fair, and we will have an opportunity to shop from the book fair's online catalog for additional titles for the library collection.

Teachers were invited to a Sneak Peak Day on the Monday of the book fair week, and were encouraged to visit the fair and write down their Classroom Wish Lists.  The winner of the teacher drawing was Ms. Emily Henderson. The classroom teachers appreciate all of the new wish list books that students and families purchased and donated for their classrooms. Mr. Wulf;s Principal's Picks were also featured at the fair.

Pre-sales of the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid # 9:  the long haul by Jeff Kinney were available at the book fair.  The publisher will release the copies of the book on November 4, and the school library will receive its order after that.  Mrs. Klein will deliver the books to the students in their classrooms.

The correct answer of the Guessing Game (How many mints does it take to freshen a Dragon's breath?) was 437 mints.  The winners of the guessing game were able to choose from selected books or a display poster.  Congratulations to the following students and teacher who had the closest guesses:

Pre-K to K:  Angie M.-G. – K Hansen  (414)

Grades 1-3:  Joaquin C,-G. – 2nd Schlickbernd  (429)

Grades 4-6:  Brandon A. – 6th  Brenn (430)

Grades 7-9:  Alison B.– 7th grade (407)

Grades 10-12:  Ben K. – 10th grade (475)

Adult:  Brenda Montoya (423)

Many thanks go out to the parents who helped work at the fair:  Lisa Sievers, Ellie Dutcher, Angie Borg, Shannon Johnson, Amanda Fischer, Tracey Anderson, Amanda Newton, Bree Brown, Karen Borg, and Tiffany Lamprecht.  Thanks to all who helped with set-up & take down: library aides Kenna M. and Sara M., library para Bonnie Hoffman, the following kind students: Tim A., Levi N., Anthony V, Laken A.,, Brody M., Jeff D., Esgar G., and several others that Mrs. Klein appreciates but regrets that she cannot remember for sure.  We couldn't have done it without your help!  These young people worked hard lifting lots of heavy boxes and moving tables.

To all of our young and young adult Wakefield Readers:  Thank you for visiting our fair and Keep on reading!!  It's a gift to yourself and your community!
