Pre-K through 6th grade students help decorate Monsters for the book fair.

Monster Book Fair brings in lots of Monster Readers!

Thanks to All who attended!

October 09, 2015

The Monster Book Fair held at the Wakefield School Library during Parent-Teacher conferences was a success, with nearly $3000 in Scholastic merchandise sold during the fair.   Many students and their families found new books to read, as well as other fun items, such as posters, kits, and novelty pens, erasers, pointers and other items.  Approximately 30 books were donated to classroom libraries, and the school library will be adding over 50 new hardback titles to the collection for students to check out.

During the fair, shoppers tried to guess how many Monster eyeballs were in the jar.  The correct number was 113, and the following winners were able to select a book or poster from the fair:  Pre-K to Kindergarten:  Drake M. (123); Grades 1-3:  Cael J. (114); Grades 4-6:  Cade J. (112); Grades 7-9: Couy J. (115); Grades 10-12:  Isaac C. (114); and Adults:  Mrs. Sara Schlickbernd, 2nd grade teacher (112).  Thank you to all who made a guess.

Winner of the Teacher Preview Day drawing was Mrs. Linda Steinman, kindergarten teacher.

We wish to thank all who volunteered to work at the book fair:  Lisa Sievers, Bree Brown, Sarah Birkley, Angie Borg, Patti Bejot, Michelle Boeckenhauer, Ellie Dutcher, Sara Tello, Jenna McAfee, Courtney Peters, and Shannon Johnson.   We couldn't do it without you!!

Several others helped with loading & unloading heavy boxes, set-up and tear-down, and many other preparations for the fair:  Mrs. Bonnie Hoffman, library para, Lupita I., student aide, as well as Ben C., Caleb S., Cameron S., and Julio S.  We truly appreciate your help.

Thank you to all who shopped at the Monster Book Fair, and to all of the classroom teachers and staff who assisted us in any way..  We loved the creative Monster faces crafted by the elementary students.  We will continue to display them in the library through the year.

As always, Keep Reading!!
