Random Drug Testing Policy instituted at Wakefield High School
Policy approved at November School Board meeting
November 12, 2015
For the past several month, Wakefield Administration and School Board have been discussing and fine-tuning a new policy.
At the regular monthly School Board meeting in November, the board approved a Random Drug Testing Policy for all students in grades 7-12.
This policy allows Wakefield Community School to test students for consumption of drugs. Students in grades 7-12 who participate in any extra-curricular activity will be subject to random drug testing. This also means that students who sign up for extra-curricular activities will be asked to sign a “Consent to perform random drug testing” form (which will also need to be signed by parents) before they participate in the activity.
Parents of students in grades 5-12 will be receiving a letter and a copy of the policy in the mail.
