Vocabulary Fashion Show

4th-6th grade writing students perform

by Megan Nixon

November 29, 2011

On Wednesday, November 23, 2011 the 4th-6th grade writing students performed a Vocabulary Fashion Show.  Students worked independently or with a partner to create a costume and description of a vocabulary word and then shared their project with the elementary students, teachers, and many visitors and parents.  The project was based on an idea from the book Miss Alaineus, A Vocabulary Disaster by Debra Frasier.  Vocabulary costumes included elaborate, recumbent, echelon, cordial and many more.  It was a great way to expose the students to new vocabulary terms and have fun modeling at the same time.
