By Jason Heitz

October 09, 2009

Wakefield Community School’s chapter of the National Honor Society is affiliated with the national organization which is recognized by colleges and knowledgeable employers for the moral and intellectual caliber of its’ members. Presently, there are over 20,000 public and private schools with chapters in the National Honor Society.

To be considered for membership into Wakefield Schools’ National Honor Society, high school juniors or seniors must achieve a B average or above to be scholastically eligible. Eligible candidates fill out and turn in an Activity Information form. Each candidate is rated by all members of the high school faculty on a rating scale of 5 to 1 in the areas of Character, Leadership, and Service. These ratings are then tallied, giving each student a rated standard score. These ratings are used by the Faculty Council during the final selection process following rules as set forth and ascribed to by the National Organization.  NHS members participate in a variety of school and community service activities throughout the year. Please contact Mrs. Dorcey, NHS sponsor, for additional information regarding this organization.

The selection process occurs in the fall of each school year, and the NHS Induction Ceremony will be held in the main gym on October 21 at 2:40 p.m.
