Iditarod XXXVIII begins from Anchorage, Alaska, on March 6, 10 a.m. Follow race progress on the Internet.

Join in our reading race between elementary classes, beginning March 1.  All students in grades K-6 can record (parents sign) how many minutes they read at home each night.  Please read books at / about your reading level.  Teachers will record these times and any classroom reading the next morning.

Each day, the library staff will move the team dog sleds down the elementary hallways, according to how many minutes (miles) read.  There will be 24 checkpoints along the hallway, named after the actual checkpoints used in Alaska’s annual Iditarod race.  Nome, the last stop, will be at the Library Media Center’s door.

The winning class team will receive frozen treats and will be pictured on the Wakefield web page.  The last place team will receive the Red Lantern Award.

Iditarod XXXVIII starts from Anchorage, March 6, 10 a.m.  – follow the race progress at http://www.iditarod.com/ .
