School Closure and Delay Procedures

We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. As we approach winter, we want to remind everyone that weather conditions can impact our school schedule. We will notify you of any school cancellations, delays, or early dismissals in a timely manner through various channels.

Primary Communication Channels

Our primary means of communication are school text messages, voicemails, and emails. We encourage you to check our school website, Facebook page, and Twitter account for updates, especially if you have not received a direct notification from the school when the weather looks bad.

Additional Communication Channels

In addition to our school's communication channels, you can also check the following local media outlets for school closure and delay information:

  • Waynedailynews.com

  • Ktiv.com

  • Siouxlandnews.com

  • Siouxlandproud.com

  • Wakefieldschools.org

Late Start or Cancellation Announcements

We will strive to announce late starts or school cancellations by 6:30 AM. In the event of a late start, we will make every effort to announce a cancellation by 9:00 AM if necessary.

Early Dismissals

If inclement weather arises during the school day, we may need to dismiss students early. Please have a plan for your children to be picked up and cared for if you are unable to do so yourself.

Checking for Updates

If you don't receive a school notification regarding early dismissal, please check our school website, social media accounts, and local media outlets. Please refrain from calling the school office.

Voicemail Issues

In the past, we have encountered instances where cell phones block messages from mass text services. To address this issue, we also send voice call notifications when school is canceled or delayed for the day. If you haven't set up voicemail with your service provider or your voicemail inbox is full, you may not receive these notifications. If you receive a missed call from the school (402-287-2012) before 7:45 AM or after 5:00 PM, it is likely an automated message. Please do not call the school back.

If You Don't Receive a Notification

If you don’t receive school text notifications, please get in touch with the school office, and we will assist you.

Prioritizing Safety

We understand that changes to the school schedule can be disruptive for families. However, our primary concern is the safety of our students and staff. We will strive to provide timely updates to families and staff. However, we may need to take precautionary measures due to rapidly changing weather conditions.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We appreciate your continued support of our school.

Sincerely,

Matt Farup
