Wakefield High School is proud to celebrate an incredible achievement by the Class of 2026! This year, a record six seniors have been awarded the prestigious Susan T. Buffett Scholarship- a remarkable accomplishment, especially considering that we typically have just two recipients each year.

The Susan T. Buffett Scholarship provides significant financial support, covering most tuition costs at a Nebraska public college. This opportunity will have a lasting impact on each of these students as they pursue their futures.

🎉 Shelby English will attend Wayne State College to major in Special Education.
🎉 Alexandra Garrido will attend Wayne State College to study Business.

Last Thursday and Friday, nine Wakefield SkillsUSA members went down to Grand Island to compete at State Leadership and Skills Championships. The competition gets tougher every year, and our students did great. We even have a National Finalist in our group! Molly Schlickbernd took home a gold medal in the First Aid-CPR contest. We are so proud of our SkillsUSA members and their determination, passion, and commitment to growing their skills inside and outside of the classroom.

On Thursday, April 2nd, the seniors hit the road for an unforgettable school-sponsored field trip. The seniors took off for Thunder Road in Sioux Falls to enjoy a variety of activities. These activities included the 7D movie theater, laser tag, bowling, arcade games, and bumper cars. The day wrapped up with a special stop at Sidelines, where our seniors made their mark—literally—by signing the Wakefield High School graduates’ wall. As the countdown to graduation begins, we couldn’t be prouder of this incredible group. The future’s looking bright, Class of 2026- go shine!
