On Tuesday, November 14th, 32 8th-grade students from Wakefield Community Schools went on a visit to Northeast Community College. For many of them, this was their first experience visiting a college campus. The Wakefield School Counseling Department organized this visit as an effort to encourage students at a young age to begin thinking about their post-secondary education/plans. The 8th graders arrived on campus and began the day with a fun activity to determine which careers may be a good fit for them based on their skills and interests. The inventory focused on the following areas: nature smart, logic smart, body smart, people smart, creative smart, and industrial smart. The NECC recruiters incorporated fun minute-to-win-it activities related to these skills which engaged the students. After the skills and interest inventory and activities, the students were broken into groups and toured the campus. Students had the opportunity to check out the dorms, the student center, and various lecture halls and labs. After the tour, the students attended a college student panel in which they were able to ask the college students questions about college in general and questions specific to NECC. Finally, the students ate a delicious lunch at NECC's cafeteria. It was an educational day that got the students fired up for their future.

Congratulations!
