First grade celebrated Read Across America a bit late this year (Thanks Nebraska winter!) but definitely in style with our Annual Camp Read-a-Lot!
📚 Our teachers set up tents, prepared campsites, lit campfires, and had ALL kinds of opportunities for us to READ!
📚Some of our favorite activities were listening to camp stories, building compound words, making a camping first aid kit, and lounging around the campfire reading books. To culminate the "best.day.ever" we got to eat s'mores and play a little Camping BINGO! If you see a first grader out and about, ask them for our s'mores recipe! It's a good one!
☀️Sun, warm, snow, repeat… but I spy 4th quarter. Time to lock in and finish strong!
The Wakefield Speech Team attended the Pilgar Cardinal Triangular on Tuesday, March 11. These students participated, and all received awards:

The meet was a lot of fun, and Shelby English, Maria Salcedo, and Ruby Boeckenhauer assisted with the team.
The team will host the Speech Showcase on March 20 at 7 pm. in the High School Band Room
District C1-3 will be on Saturday, March 22, at Schyler High School.

Animal Science had the opportunity to meet USA Today woman of the year Dr. Temple Grandin. Dr. Grandin is an American scientist, inventor, and austism spokesperson who designs humane livestock facilities. She was on tour with Lincoln Premium Poultry and Costco reviewing poultry facilities throughout Nebraska. Thank you to Debbie Borg and Borg’s farm for providing this opportunity.
