These students participated in the Pilgar Cardinal Triangular on Tuesday, February 13: Nate Johnson, Sawyer Brudigam, Jackson Pommer, Coltlynn Lortz, Dorothy Sullivan, and Miguel Ibarra. Schools that competed with Wakefield were Pilger-Wisner and Neilgh Oakdale. 11th and 12th Grade Selection for February’s Student of the Month We are delighted to announce our Student of the Month for February, an outstanding 11th-grade student whose empathy, artistic talents, positive influence, and infectious smile have left an impression on our school community. It is with great pleasure that we recognize Bianca Castillo for her exceptional qualities and contributions. Bianca’s actions, both big and small, reflect a compassionate spirit that has created a warm and inclusive atmosphere within our school. In addition to her compassionate nature, she is a talented artist with exceptional creative abilities. Furthermore, Bianca consistently encourages her classmates. Her ability to uplift and motivate others has contributed to a positive and collaborative learning environment. Bianca’s cheerful demeanor has a ripple effect, brightening the days of all who she encounters and creating a sense of joy within our school. Whether it's offering a helping hand during group projects or simply spreading a warm smile in the hallway, she is a genuinely kind student. Quinn approaches challenges with determination and perseverance, setting a great example for her peers. One of the most inspiring aspects of her character is her unwavering commitment to doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. Quinn’s integrity not only sets her apart but also fosters a positive school culture. In recognition of her outstanding qualities as a kind and compassionate friend, a diligent student, and a person of unwavering integrity, we proudly name Quinn Riewer as our February Student of the Month. 9th and 10th Grade Selection for February’s Student of the Month Sierra Kaufman, a remarkable 10th-grade student, was selected as our Student of the Month for February. Sierra stands out as a leader in our school community. She is known for her kindness, positive attitude, resilience, and strong work ethic. One of Sierra's standout qualities is her commitment to helping her classmates succeed. Known for going above and beyond, she consistently goes out of her way to assist peers with their homework, creating a collaborative and supportive academic environment within our school. Additionally, Sierra treats everyone with a level of respect that is truly commendable. She helps to create a welcoming atmosphere within our school community. Sierra is incredibly involved in extracurricular activities and she leads by example. She can be counted on to do the right thing even if it is not easy. In recognition of her outstanding qualities as a supportive academic peer, a respectful individual, and a natural leader, we proudly name Sierra Kaufman as our February Student of the Month. Wakefield Community School's very own senior, Ashlyn Boeckenhauer, has been awarded the prestigious Regents Scholarship by the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Regents Scholarships are offered to residents of Nebraska who are graduating seniors of Nebraska high schools. Applicants with a minimum ACT composite of 30 and either a rank in the top 25% of their graduating class OR a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher qualify for the award. The Regents Scholarship covers undergraduate resident tuition for full-time students and is renewable with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher. The award is renewable for up to four total years or until 120 attempted credit hours is reached or a bachelor's degree is earned. Ashlyn is incredibly involved at Wakefield Community Schools as she is a member of the National Honor Society, the Student Council, FCCLA, and FCA, and participates in track and volleyball. As of right now, Ashlyn plans to earn her bachelor's degree in animal science. Her goal is to pursue a career as a large animal IVF embryologist specifically in the beef industry. There is no doubt that Ashlyn has a very bright future ahead of her.
